The maps illustrate the developments that have occurred in Grange Park from its opening in 1920 to the present day.
Overall, the park has been completely modernized, shifting from a traditional garden layout to a more functional recreational space. While the primary entrances on Arnold Avenue and Eldon Street remain, almost all internal features have been replaced or relocated to accommodate more visitors.
In 1920, the center of the park featured a large fountain. This has since been removed and replaced by a central rose garden, which is now surrounded by seats on all four sides. The original rose gardens in the corners have been modified; the one in the northwest remains, but the others have been cleared to make way for new facilities.
To the west, the original stage for musicians has been transformed into a much larger amphitheater for outdoor concerts. In the northeast corner, the pond for water plants has been filled in to create a children’s play area. Adjacent to this, a new café has been built near the north entrance, replacing the rose garden that once stood there.
In the southeast, the glasshouse has been demolished and replaced by a new water feature. Additionally, a third entrance has been constructed on the eastern edge of the park, providing access to a new underground car park.
